Abigail D. Albino is a 25 year old freelance writer and coffee painter based in Davao City, Philippines. She started painting using coffee last 2007 at a Humanities class in college. She continued to explore and work on the art of coffee painting over the years, as she is obsessed with the monochromatic and organic quality produced in painting using coffee.
Her coffee painting entitled "Cuna del Cristianismo" got into the semifinals of the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence Painting Competition last 2010. She conducted her first coffee painting workshop at the Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus last 2011, and taught more than 90 students and guests on the event. She had her first auction and exhibit as well as her second coffee painting workshop at Via Cafe last 2011. Her latest coffee painting workshop was at Pundokan Dabaw during the citywide festival this year.
Her artworks are inclined towards the ethnic and whimsical, as evident of her interest in cultural elements and nature. There are times wherein she just lets her subconscious and emotions guide her hands and brush strokes to produce something unexpected on paper. Her paintings tell a story - of cultural heritage, creation spirituality, and emotional tempests. She loves to spend her afternoons and evenings with coffee by her side and painting using this black gold on paper.
